Overcoming a 15 cm (6 inch) Tumor: A Triumph Over Lung Cancer

Chad Hodge, a lung cancer survivor, shared his inspiring story of how he overcame the odds and fought his way back to health. Hodge’s journey highlights the importance of early detection, a positive mindset, and a strong support system.

Chad’s cancer story:

Chad Hodge’s cancer journey began when he experienced pain in the right upper portion of his abdomen. After visiting the doctor and undergoing a series of tests, Hodge was diagnosed with a 15 cm tumor in his lung, which is roughly almost six inches. The tumor was so large that it was pressing on a nerve, which caused pain in his upper abdomen.

The diagnosis and initial prognosis:

Initially, doctors believed the tumor was an infection due to the rarity of such a large tumor. However, further tests revealed that Hodge had primary pulmonary carcinocoma, an extremely rare type of lung cancer that accounts for only 0.3% to 0.7% of all lung cancers diagnosed. Furthermore, the tumor was 85% aggressive, which made the prognosis initially daunting.

The treatment journey:

Hodge was fortunate to find a competent and determined doctor who set up a meeting with a thoracic surgeon at one of the best cancer research facilities in Italy. Hodge underwent surgery to remove the tumor and was later transferred to a cancer research facility for further treatment. His treatment included chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which he underwent with a positive and determined mindset.

Chad’s mindset and approach towards cancer:

Hodge’s mindset towards cancer was one of stubbornness and determination. Upon learning of his diagnosis, he went into full research mode and learned about the effects of sugar and carbohydrates on cancer. He approached his treatment with a positive outlook and an unwavering spirit, refusing to let cancer beat him.

The importance of a supportive network:

Throughout his journey, Hodge had the support of his family and friends. He emphasized the importance of having a strong support system during a cancer diagnosis, stating that it helped him get through the difficult moments and remain positive.

Diet and Lifestyle Changes

Hodge shares how he was able to donate to cancer research in Europe and received the cancer diet plan. He followed the diet plan religiously, which included a 24-hour fast, eating mainly salmon, tuna, chicken, and a large amount of kale and other vegetables. He also took a scot inhibitor, green tea, alpha-lipoic acid, alpha-carotene, cambogia, and garlic, which are all inhibitors of scots. These changes helped him to improve his chances of survival.

Sugar and Cancer

During his cancer journey, Hodge was curious about the effects of sugar on tumors. He discovered that sugar affects how tumors grow, and if you starve the cancer cells, you also starve healthy cells. He learned about a study conducted by Dr. Milano, which showed that taking out sugar from the diet had a great effect on cancer. However, this has not been widely researched, so it's not part of the current plan for treating cancer.

The Importance of Mini Fasts

Hodge also shared how he did mini-fasts during his cancer journey. This practice helped him to take a break from digesting food and allowed his body to focus on repairing cells and tissues. By doing this, he was able to improve his chances of survival and beat the odds of cancer.

Fasting and Chemotherapy:

Chad found a way to handle the drugs with minimal negative effects by incorporating fasting into his routine. Chad discovered a study being done in Germany that combined fasting with chemotherapy. He started doing a 48-hour fast before his injection and then a 24-hour fast after the injection. He would then wait for another 24 hours before having his first meal. He would fast a total of 72 hours during his injections. This routine impressed his doctors, as he didn't have any negative effects on his kidneys or liver, and he didn't lose all of his hair.

Chad's Fasting Routine:

Chad's fasting routine was quite rigorous. Before his surgery and chemotherapy, he was doing a prolonged fast of five days once a month. Additionally, he was doing a weekly 48-hour to 72-hour fast.

Weight Loss:

Chad was lucky enough to have weight to lose, so he didn't experience significant issues with his weight loss. Before his surgery, he weighed around 210 pounds, and at the end of all the fasting and chemo, he weighed around 180 pounds.

Chad's Diet Before Cancer:

Before his diagnosis, Chad was doing the keto diet almost all the time and allowed himself cheat days every one to three months. He didn't have any significant issues with his diet, and he felt relaxed about it.

Stress and Cancer:

Chad had a significant stress event before his diagnosis. He was doing the type of work he enjoyed but couldn't support financially. He had to take on a second job to pay off his debts, which took a toll on him. Stress can weaken the immune system, making it easier for cancer to develop.

Lung Health:

Chad has never been a smoker, never had an injury to his lungs, and has not been in a polluted area for a long period of time.
